Del Sur: A Wonderful Neighborhood to Call HOME!
What makes Del Sur so special? I love the style of the various homes. The streetscape are so interesting and offer so much variety. You see Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean,Rustic Cottage, Bungalow, and Farmhouse styles with complimentary color schemes and architectural elements such as balconies and court yards. There is something for every buyer with condominiums arranged in motor courts, twin homes, small homes suiting the needs of empty nesters and small families as well as large semi custom homes with large yards and pools. The landscaping is well planned with drought resistant plantings, 140 olive trees and other native California and Mediterraneanvarieties offering color, texture and variety. The street lights were planned to look like 18th century gas lamps. The stonework on walls and the Haaland Glen Bridge which is landmark to the community is done in a style which reflects work done in the past century. It is the attention to details which makes this community so appealing and welcoming.
Currently there are 7 parks in Del Sur with swimming pools heated by solar.
There are 3 more parks offering open space and a place for people to connect. Del Sur covers 4,600 acres and has 18 miles of hiking trails.
The information center for Del Sur is named the “Ranch House”.
Once building in the community is complete The Ranch House will be used by residents for social functions. It is a beautiful building where timbers from an old pier in Portland were reported to be used as trusses. The landscaping is watered with reclaimed water. Both solar energy and wind powers the building. It received the acclaimed LEED rating (Platinum level) for Green construction. In addition it has California’s GEELA Environmental and Economic Leadership Award for Comprehensive Land Use. It is a lovely place to visit to get the latest community information and to simply admire.
In keeping the look of an established, historic “old” neighborhood but offering the newest building innovations for the environment Del Sur is green, green, and greener! The drought resistant landscaping watered by weather sensitive irrigation systems is just the start. Many homes offer solar packages for energy, most have Energy Star appliances, tank less water heaters, low emission windows, low emission paints and glues and an active recycling program for the occupied homes as well as the construction waste.
If you live in Del Sur please share with us what you like best about the neighborhood. I have never heard a resident offer complaints..most gush about the parks, their neighbors, the schools and their homes.
